T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, Saridis of Athens, Rare 'Trapeza' End or Side Tables, Walnut, Greece, 1960s

A set of rare and important “Trapeza” end tables, model nos. 4 and 12, designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings circa 1937 and manufactured in walnut by Saridis of Athens, Greece. The sculptural forms reflect Gibbings’ modern interpretation of classical Greek furniture and his important and highly collectible collaboration with Saridis. 

The underside of one table retains a metal plaque reading “DESIGNED BY – T.H. ROBSJOHN GIBBINGS / MANUFACTURED BY – SARIDIS OF ATHENS,” impressed 104075. The second retains a Greek-language Saridis plaque reading “ΣXEΔION – T.H. ROBSJOHN-GIBBINGS / EKTEΛEΣIΣ – ΣAPIΔHΣ A.E.,” impressed 60918 twice.
