Paavo Tynell Style, Finnish Mid-Century Modern, Large Double Wall Light or Sconce, Pierced Brass, Finland, 1950s

A wonderful double wall sconce or 'headboard lamp' with amazing patina in the manner of Paavo Tynell and produced in Finland in the middle of the 20th century. This example features two lengthy horozontal solid brass bars flanked by a light on each side. Each shade is delicately detailed with Tynell's signature hand-punched starburst perforations and notched back rims designed to filter ambient light and prevent direct glare. Brass presents with heavy patina and oxidation throughout.
