A large and impressive pair of Louis XVI–style wall sconces executed in gilt and ebony-patinated dore bronze. Each sconce is modeled in the form of a tapered classical amphora, issuing three bronze arms with twisted fluting and decorative elements cast as acanthus leaves and clusters of fruit. The stems are richly ornamented with figural mask motifs, including a female mask and a pair of horned satyr masks, accented with aigrettes and garlands of fruit that descend into a graceful cascade of foliage. This is a simply stunning pair of very fine quality bronze wall sconces.

Henry Dasson was a nineteenth century Parisian maker of gilt-bronze mounted furniture. Unlike other cabinetmakers of the time Dasson began his career as a bronze sculptor, and consequently one characteristic of his work is the quality of his bronze and more precisely of the chiselling.
