French Louis XV Style, Fauteuil or Armchair, Carved Wood, Cane, Green Leather, France, 1940s

A single French Louis XV style fauteuil or armchair designed and produced in France in the early part of the 20th century. This example features a finely carved wood frame with a shaped caned backrest, gracefully curved open arms, and cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Decorative floral carvings accent the crest rail and front seat apron.
